Life is busy and you do your best to keep up. You are
conscientious, responsible, and manage to make what you do look easy.
However, once a year you like nothing better than to kick back, see
something you have never seen before, and travel. Travelling should not
break your bank account. The following suggestions will help plan a
cheap travel experience.
Cheap travel on the roads is possible even if the gas
prices have sky rocketed. So pack up your family and get going on your
next travel excursion.
The first thing to do is to be sure your car is
running well. The costs of your travel will increase greatly if you
break down on the road. It is much better to have your mechanic tune it
up, change the oil, change the air filter, and check all the belts
before you leave for you cheap travel excursion. Keep road maps and
travel guides close you will need them.
Now it is time to decide what kind of travel
experience you will have. Wilderness road-trips are a cheap way to
travel. Popping up a tent is far less expensive than to stay in a hotel.
You could go from park to park camping as you go.
If you decide that camping is not for you, yet you
still want to keep costs down have some hotel coupons ready. Remember,
if your coupon is for a competitive hotel you can always ask if they
will honor it. Many will.
If you do decide to stay in quality hotels, there is
a way to do so cheap. Book a head, and plan to stay during the off
season. This would mean you would need to find out what the hotel
considers their off season and then plan your travel excursion then.
Hotel rates are based on supply and demand. When they are not in demand
their rates are lower to attract the attention of travelers. This option
will allow you to travel cheap.
Remember to pack your own food and beverages. If you
plan on buying all you need as you travel your costs will quickly build.
It is also wise to pack up a cooler to keep those things that could
spoil safe from the heat of the road. Some people will only hit a proper
grocery store to purchase their travel food and beverages. This is the
cheaper alternative to road side stores.
If you do decide to eat out but you still want to
travel cheap, do not eat at restaurants along the highways. Instead head
into some of the smaller towns and enjoy your meal in their local
restaurant or café. Though it will take you off the highway, it will
save you some money.
Of course you will want to do some sightseeing on
your travels. Look for packages and coupons before you hit the road.
There are many cheap travel deals on the internet, in newspapers, and
through travel clubs. |
