Summer is here, the kids are out
of school, the weather is good. Now is the perfect time for family
travel. Travelling as a family is exciting and fun. However, sometimes
travel can become chaotic and unpleasant. This is not how to make happy
family memories. Still, there are a number of things you can do to help
ease the stress that can accompany a family vacation. With a bit of
preparation and these few travel tips in place, your family’s summer
travel should become a happy memory.
If you are planning on foreign
travels be sure to leave a photocopy of all family members passports
with someone you trust at home. If anyone of your family loses their
passport, you can get the trusted person to scan the photocopy of the
passport and email it to you. With this documentation you will find it
easier to get travel documents replaced and a replacement passport at
the local consulate.
Remember area pick-pockets always
hang around crowded tourist spots within their city. When you are
enjoying your travel experience be aware that there are unsavory people
around you and make sure that all your possessions are packed away
safely somewhere under your clothing. There is nothing more dramatic
then to realize that your pockets of been picked of all they held and
that you no longer have the money you need to enjoy your vacation.
Money belts are a wonderful travel
accessory and you should invest in one. But do not get one of the canvas
kinds that you wear around your waist. An expert pick-pocket knows just
how to access what is within its zippered pocket; far better to invest a
little extra cash in the more professional money belts. The professional
money belt looks like a real belt but have a cleverly concealed zippered
compartment on its inside.
Another thing to remember is to
keep your cash, traveler’s checks, and important travel documents such
as passports scattered in different places when you go out. For example,
you can stuff some money in your socks and put traveler’s checks in the
interior pockets of your clothing. Another good idea is to sew the extra
cash and traveler checks you will not use for that day in a false hem of
a shirt or dress. Though it sounds extreme you will be glad you took the
extra care and had a wonderful trip.
If you will be flying it is very
important that your children understand what happens at the Security
Check-In. If they do not have a sense of what to expect it might
frighten them. Also, remember to not travel with any children’s toys
that could be mistaken as a weapon. If your children have Photo ID bring
it and keep all family travel documentation in an Air Travel Security
Pouch.
Summer is a wonderful time for you
and your family to take a family vacation. With a little bit of
preparation your travels will be safe. Then it will be good memories and
not travelling chaos. |
