A good travel agent can work with their client to put
together the vacation of their dreams. This is why you need to take care
when finding a travel agent to help plan your travelling experience. The
question then arises what makes a good travel agent?
The main reasons someone becomes a Travel Agent is
because they love to travel, liking working with people and providing
excellent customer service, and enjoy the numerous travel benefits a
Travel Agent receives. A good Agent must also have a good education with
recognized certification. You will need to investigate this point. It is
appropriate to make this your first question. Therefore, you need to
know what certifications and licenses are recommended in your country.
Once the Travel Agent has passed this little test take notice on how the
Agent deals with you. The first two question a good Travel Agent will
ask you are
1. Where you want to travel and what you would like
to do once you are there?
2. Then the Travel Agent should ask about your budget
and explain if your dreams are realistic for that budget.
Be sure to find a Travel Agent who specializes in the
type of travel experiences you are planning for your vacation. If you
want to go to a resort to relax and recover from your stressful life
then you want an Agent who is experienced with this type of travel.
Now that you are sure you have the right Travel
Agent, what can you expect to get from them? The Agent will assist you
by sorting through enormous amounts of travel information to help you
make the best travel arrangements. A good Agent will be able to advise
you on and book all you travel needs. They can organize all your
transportation needs from airfare to car rentals, hotel accommodations,
sightseeing tours, restaurant reservations, theater packages, spa
packages, and recreational reservations like Golf or Boat rentals.
A good Travel Agent is also used by specialty travel
groups and resorts to promote their products, which will allow you as
the travel consumer to reap the benefit of further reduced rates and
special promotional opportunities.
The Travel Agent should also be able to advise you on
everything about your travel destination. Its weather patterns, local
customs, its laws, attractions, and exhibitions. They also will know
what travel documentations are needed; such as, Passports, Visas,
Certifications, and Vaccinations. They will know the Currency exchange
rates and any travel advisories.
If something happens while on vacation that changes
your travel plans a good Travel Agent will intercede on your behave and
make alternative arrangements.
In conclusion, it is interesting to know that often
the unaware public will confuse a Travel Agent with a Tour Operator.
However, there is a difference between the two, though it is subtle. By
definition the Operator’s job is broader. They will care for your entire
travel experience. A Travel Agent does not always do that, though the
good ones should, if you ask them. |
